I just yelled, “Wow!” Someone made a great catch.
And those magical moments are what make baseball so great.
In defense of soccer, you’ll hear, “There’s action the whole time!” Yes, there is action. That action is men running around in short shorts for 80-ish minutes punctuated by 2-4 exciting moments, often ending with nothing actually being accomplished.
Baseball’s moments are (usually) less intense, but much more frequent. There is anticipation in the battle between pitcher and batter. Every swing is do or die. Compared to soccer, where most of the entertainment comes from obnoxious chants and vuvuzelas, baseball is positively exhilarating.
Not a focused post. Give me a break—I’m watching baseball.
