This is my copywriting exercise. I am using Google’s recruitment page as a template.
What do I get when I join St. Meinrad Archabbey? Take a look at some of our benefits below.
Support your loved ones
Your family matters to you, so they’re important to us, too. Even though you’re a monk, you’ll be given generous vacation time (generous for a monastery, anyway). Starting at two weeks and increasing throughout your time here, our time-away policy ensures you won’t lose contact with your loved ones from the cloister. Plus, they can visit anytime and stay for free in our family house. Just be sure they call ahead.
Live a healthy life
All St. Meinrad monks have access to world-class health and dental care, totally free of charge. Once you make your first vows, every expense is covered—for life. Everything from the food you eat to the roof over your head is included. That means no budgeting, no “emergency fund”, and no fear of expensive medical bills. Plus, you won’t have to worry about taxes—the abbey takes care of those, too. When you’re here, your financial and physical well-being are the last of your concerns.
As a monk, most of your life is spent at the monastery. But there are many ways to get outside and do good for the community. Our monks participate in prison ministry, work with locals in the town, and even direct plays at the nearby high school. And as our line of monk-made products grows, there are increasing opportunities for marketers and salesmen, as well as cooks and craftsmen. You can take pride in your work knowing that the funds directly benefit local families through our food pantry and various outside ministries.
Enjoy quality time
Being a monk isn’t all work. Sure, there are scheduled prayer and work times each day, but after afternoon work, you’re free until dinner. And since you don’t have to worry about things like grocery shopping or running the kids to school, your time is just that—yours. You can read a book, play a video game, call a friend, or just take a nap. The abbey takes care of you so you can fully take care of yourself.
Invest in you
St. Meinrad is a school of the Lord’s service. It’s also a normal school, offering a wide variety of classes in various disciplines, along with a substantial library and a wealth of knowledge from our senior monks. We’ve also got an on-site gym, a music studio, beehives, beer-brewing—the list goes on. If you have a passion you’ve been nurturing for a long time, or want to try something new, we’ve got the time, money, and space for you to do it.
